THREE HOUR WORKSHOP -- 9:20-12:20
W21 - CultureFolio: A Complexity Theory Paradigm for the Teaching of L2 Culture
Culture and language are co-dependent and co-exist. For decades, ways to teach culture in the L2 classroom have been investigated. Moore (1996) indicates that instruction of culture is neglected. Students, despite 2-4 years of study, conclude high school and university programs with minimal cultural competence. This workshop will explore why, present a cultural theoretical framework, and propose a way to embed culture into everyday lessons.
*There are concurrent sessions Saturday that carry no additional cost and do not require pre-registration.
