I would like to tell you about about the Ohio Foreign Language Association's upcoming 2017 conference. OFLA is well-known for having one of the
largest and most active state conferences in the country. It's no surprise why - we will have over one hundred presenters attending from Ohio and the
midwest as well a nationally recognized speakers, including our ODE World Language Consultants and second language acquisition expert Bill
VanPatten and 2009 ACTFL TOY and 2013 ACTFL President Toni Theisen.
The conference planning committee has selected "Strengthen your Core" as this year's theme. Instructors can listen to Bill VanPatten help us get back
to the fundamentals through his "principles of language teaching." This year, we will also highlight six nationally-recognized "core practices" in
language teaching. For those also interested in other areas, OFLA will also offer over eighty sessions and a dozen workshops on topics including
curriculum development, standards-familiarization, general teaching strategies, content-specific material in your target language, among others.
The 2017 OFLA annual conference will take place at the Hilton Polaris in columbus, Ohio from March 30 - April 1, 2017.
