The Power of the Interview:  This session will walk you through how to successfully incorporate into your curriculum an interview project, which is grounded in project-based learning principles.

Analyzing Culture through Music and Dance:  Performance and creating music and dance together is one of the most important aspects of many cultures that bring communities together. This interactive workshop will explore using Zumba and other dances to really experience the sounds, moves, music, language, and feeling of the culture which in essence is all communication. This session will show how you can use dance and music to meet all of the standards while forcing students to reflect on other cultures and their own. During the session, there will be time for teachers to brainstorm a plan of their own for a great September lesson that will wow their students.

Marketing Your Success: A Round Table Discussion on Creating Good PR for Your Program:  According to Douglass Smith, “PR is performance recognition.” Without good publicity, an excellent language program can languish, falling victim to mono-linguistic attitudes that relegate language study to fluff. In this session, panelists discuss ways to promote your program and advocate for language study, inviting participants to share their own successes and challenges. Outcomes: Share and learn strategies for promoting their language programStrategies to engage: Case studies, discussion, question and answer period.
